Taiwan Day 13: Sun Yat Sen Memorial and The Red House

Day Thirteen

First stop of the day was the Sun Yat Sen Memorial. It is located a short walk out of exit 4 of the MRT station. It is a good place to visit then walk over to the Taipei 101 area because it is quite close! However, you can take one MRT station to the downtown area if you like.

When we got there, the marching was already happening. There weren't a lot of men but they were all very in sync and expression-less.

We had lunch at Starbucks and my ham cheese croissant was delicious :) The food at Starbucks here is less expensive than back home in Canada! This croissant cost me NT60 which is about CAD2.

A less than 10 minute walk took us from the memorial hall to the Taipei City Hall. There were a few exhibitions on Taiwan and a revolving theatre showing a half hour clip on the main attractions of Taipei.

At the revolving theatre
Our last main stop for the day was at Ximending to visit the Red House. It was Taiwan's first public market and from an aerial view is a cross shape to ward off demons. Nowadays it is a museum and place for artists to showcase their work.

Ending with an obligatory dinner photo. Not that special tonight, just miso ramen at Ximending.

Take care,
